The Duchess of Cambridge and the Duchess of Sussex may be living similar lives as the wives of two major members of the British royal family, but this doesn't mean the two are always going to do the same things.
While they may both be famous, go on royal tours, have much-talked-about engagements and weddings, these two women also do some things differently. And their pregnancy journey is a good example.
Let's look at some of the differences between Kate and Meghan's pregnancies.
1. The announcement
On October 15, 2018, fans of the Sussexes gave a collective squeal of joy when the Kensington Palace announced that Harry and Meghan were expecting their first child, but the announcement of Kate's first pregnancy was a little complicated.
It was reported that while the Cambridges wanted to wait until the 12-week mark to announce, they had to do it earlier because speculations were already circulating due to the acute morning sickness that the Duchess was experiencing at the time.
2. Body language
There was a lot of talk about how often Meghan cradled her baby bump in public and some have compared this to Kate's pregnancy body language. Body language expert Judi James told Express that Meghan's body language suggested she would be an "openly doting and enthusiastic mother."
Kate's body language, especially when she was pregnant with Prince Louis, was a little more subtle and calmer.
3. Their style
Meghan was more fashion-forward and brought attention to her bump by wearing tighter outfits while Kate's style was more subtle and she chose more loose-fitting wears to understate her belly.
4. Birth announcement
It was revealed that Harry and Meghan will keep the news of their baby's birth secret and will only announce it after they had enjoyed some private time together as a family. This is a big difference from Kate's birth announcement. The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are known to come out to the steps of the Lindo Wing hours after their baby is born to introduce their child to the world.
5. Health issues
During all three of her pregnancies, Kate reportedly experienced severe morning sickness (hyperemesis gravidarum), which meant she was not feeling well enough to attend to her royal duties during those early weeks. But Meghan was up and moving at that point. In fact, her pregnancy was announced while she and her husband were on their Australian tour.
While their pregnancy journey seems different, both Kate and Meghan have a few things in common such as their joy of being moms and the support of their amazing husbands.
