Fashion magazines and various celebs may try to have us believe that being skinny is the only real way to be happy. But love stories, like Pierce Brosnan and his wife Keely Shaye's, is real proof that the ones who truly care for you will always look past your flaws.
Sure, Keely Shaye may not have the slim, svelte shape that she had when she first met her now-husband Pierce Brosnan, but that doesn't mean she's unhappy.
As the wife of a known Hollywood stud, Keely's weight has always been a topic of conversation. This was a woman who was once known and celebrated for her modeling, beauty and journalism career. But like many women, Keely started to gain weight after she had children.
While some people might have issues with Keely's looks, Pierce Brosnan is as in love with her as ever. He once reportedly said he admired his wife's vitality and her passion.
When Keely looks at me I go weak at the knees.
Pierce also credited Keely for being the one who helped him through a particularly difficult time. In 1991, he lost his wife of 11 years, Cassandra Harris, to ovarian cancer. And in 2013, the same condition led to the death of his daughter, Charlotte.
He met Keely three years after Cassandra's passing and the two hit it off. Even though the pair seemed like a happy couple on the outside, Pierce was still dealing with his grief. He confessed that Keely was a monumental part of what helped him get through it.
He told Express in 2013 that:
Keely has always been kind and compassionate and encouraged me to mourn Cassie.
It's pretty clear that the bond between Pierce and his wife runs deeper than any extra pounds she might have gained over the years. So while some may disapprove of her looks, Keely seems to have one thing that most people crave: The unconditional love of a partner.
