New Zealand's minister for women posted an inspirational picture just before giving birth to her first baby.
Julie Anne Genter picked an unusual transport to travel to the hospital just before her labour. The 42-weeks pregnant woman came to Auckland City hospital on a bicycle. By her own example, she sends an inspiring and positive message to the future moms – attitude is everything!
She posted a picture of herself nexto to the bike, addint that it was a “Beautiful Sunday morning for a bike ride, to the hospital, for an induction to finally have this baby. This is it, wish us luck! (My partner and I cycled because there wasn’t enough room in the car for the support crew... but it also put me in the best possible mood!)"
Genter is a well-known cycling fan and she tries to use every chance she gets to promote this healthy sport! Even though many women opt against physical exercises closer to the due date, experts reassure it is absolutely safe if you do not have any special medical restrictions.
As long as you feel comfortable, cycling keeps you fit, enhances blood flow and enriches your tissues with oxygen.
Moreover, moderate physical activity prepares your body for labor. Doctors warn that, even if you are a professional cyclist, there is still the chance of falling, so mind the risk.
Genter plans to take three months of maternity leave before returning to work in the Parliament. Just recently, New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern has given birth to a baby girl and become the first world leader to take maternity leave.
