We face problems on a daily basis. We need to deal with them and solve them, using them t grow as people and become stronger. Some of us need to learn as we go along, others are born fighters, and Anna Wilklow is one.
Anna was born with Harlequin Ichthyosis, and even though the doctors gave her no chance at life, Anna fought her way through and conquered.
Anna’s mother, Jennie Wilklow, had a healthy pregnancy and everything was fine, until she gave birth early, at 34 weeks. It wasn't until the doctors told her Anna had a congenital disability that things fell apart.
“ Her skin hardened within seconds. After hardening, it began to split. Behind the curtain, I sensed their frantic panic. My husband’s silence scared me. He kept saying, ‘It’s bad.”
According to Love What Matters, the doctors at the hospital were lost for words at Anna's condition as Harlequin Ichthyosis isn't a common defect.
Anna’s skin had been growing at a rapid rate in the womb and, once it hit the air, it dried up. Jennie and her husband were devastated, this wasn't what they had expected.
However, they looked into the eyes of their daughter and realized she had the most beautiful soul.
Anna was born a fighter, and she proved it in the NICU.
Then came another problem: wearing normal clothes made her skin dry up more, causing her pain. Jenni had to cover her in vaseline and a plastic bag.
Finally, they took little Anna home, but it became more difficult. This wasn't the plan for her little girl; Jennie had planned many outfits, but Anna could only wear fleece.
More challenging was dealing with people's reactions when they saw her baby. Thankfully, her friends and family all gathered together and offered their support. Then, Jennie met a woman who had lost two babies at one-month-old each, tthe same month Anna came home.
This made Jenni realize she should be grateful, and so she started looking at things differently. he would dress Anna in the most adorable fleece outfits and shower her with love.
Anna’s condition improved and she could eventually start wearing regular clothes. Jenni is very grateful for Anna and decided to open up about her daughter’s condition, creating an Instagram account for Anna's journey.
Everyone immediately fell in love with her, seeing the beauty that lies deep within. Her Instagram account has reached over 12,000 followers who are hooked on her cuteness.
We are happy with Anna's progress. We wish her the very best in life and hope her inner beauty shines brightly for all to see.
