Weddings are usually a cherished moment in a couple's history. It's their time to express their love for one another in the presence of family and friends who have come out to celebrate the fact that these two have found each other.

Apart from enjoying this ceremony with the love of her life, a bride also looks forward to having her father there to walk her down the aisle. But this particular bride may not get that chance.

An unidentified woman reportedly took to social media to share the story of how her future mother-in-law didn't want her disabled father to come to the wedding.

The 27-year-old bride-to-be explained that her dad had been in a serious accident many years ago which led to an obvious disfigurement.

However, as they were making plans for the big day, her boyfriend's mom suggested that they should ban her dad from the wedding because his disfigurement might make guests uncomfortable.

The bride explained that her father burned over a large portion of his body due to the accident and also lost part of one limb. However, she didn't love him any less because of it.

She described him as a great dad and looked forward to having him celebrate her big day with her. So when her mother-in-law-to-be made the suggestion, she was distraught,

The bride said her boyfriend's mom believed that guests and children would be traumatized if they saw the father of the bride.

The bride's father apparently didn't mind and said he would understand if that was the decision they came to, which only made her feel even more guilty.

The internet reacts

Majority of people who shared their comments online believed that what the bride's boyfriend's mom was doing was cruel and unfair.

Where do you stand? Is the mother-in-law making a reasonable demand? Or do you agree that her request was way out of line?

Family is the biggest treasure of all! That is why it is so important to appreciate each other. Here is one more powerful story to prove that.
