When triplets Macey, Mackenzie, and Madeline were born, it soon became clear that there were a lot of decisions to be made.
The first one was who would take care of the girls. Their birth parents had a drug problem and they were not in any position to care for their babies,
The situation was even more delicate because two of the girls were conjoined and they desperately needed medical help.
At the end of the day, it was a family who offered the babies a forever home filled with love, even though they happened to be complete strangers.
The triplets were adopted by Darla and Jeff Garrison. The couple already had three sons, but when they heard about Macey, Mackenzie and Madeline's situation, they knew these girls definitely needed some love and care.
This was not a first for Darla and Jeff, who often fostered babies that were too fragile and needed medical help. But this time around, they wanted the triplets to be a part of their family forever.
As soon as the girls came home to them, the new parents focused on was how to separate Macey and Mackenzie.
Fortunately, this was achieved in 2003, when the two girls, who were conjoined at the pelvis, were successfully separated.
Following the surgery, Mackenzie and Macey had to rely on prosthetics for movement as they lost the leg they both once shared.
Today, at the age of 16, the girls are thriving and happy. Sure, they have some limitations, but overall, they are living comfortably with their sister Madeline. Understandably, it took a while for them to be able to figure things out due to their physical limitations. But they remained brave and determined.
When they were born, there were a lot of uncertainties with these triplets. But this amazing story is proof that sometimes, all you need is a little help to turn things around.
Family is the biggest treasure of all! That is why it is so important to appreciate each other. Here is one more powerful story to prove that.
