People are questioning Melania Trump’s fashion choice when she appeared in green coat saying “I really don’t care” while visiting one of the detention centers for immigrant children.
The first lady visited the facility for kids who were separated from their parents at the US border, an action dictated by Trump’s immigration policy. The media, however, is trying to find out how to interpret the message she sent with her choice of outfit!
“I really don’t care,” Stephani Grisham, the Director of Communications for Melania Trump, spelled out against the severe critics, saying it was just a jacket with no hidden meaning.
President Donald Trump had his assumption of his own.
According to Bob Phibbs, the chief executive of Retail Doctor, a consultancy in New York, as a former model, Melania should know how important her choices are, especially now she holds a prominent position. “Every piece of clothing has statement and purpose.”
However, the first lady’s actions contradict the words written on the coat.
Melania Trump had a chance to interact with kids and supervisors in the Upbring New Hope Children’s Shelter in McAllen, Texas, and find out about their condition and well-being.
Melania’s office representative reported that only 6 out of the 55 children in the facility were separated from their families, the rest of them came unaccompanied. Those 6 are allowed to see their parents twice a week.
She was reportedly overwhelmed with the news reports about separated families and listened to audio recordings of children crying in the detention centers.
Surprisingly, Melania does not agree with the immigration policy with no tolerance and humanity, and tried to persuade the president to end it.
Finally, after the loud outcry from the public, from the Congress and even from Mrs. Trump, the president signed a document forbidding separating children from their parents. It is unclear whether his wife's opinion was a motivator in his decision.
