Man Marries His Preschool Love 20 Years After Making The Promise In Front Of His Class

Early childhood crushes are very sweet and adorable but, unfortunately, they seldom last long. Not in this romantic story, though.

Matt Grodsky and Laura Scheel met when they were just three-year-old preschoolers.

In a post on the Instagram account The Way We Met, Matt said that one of his earliest childhood memories was standing up in front of his class and declaring his love for his best friend Laura, writing:

“I was enamored with Laura as a child, and I still am to this day.”

Matt fondly relayed memories of their childhood:

"As kids, Laura taught me how to ride the swings, draw rolling hills, and the 'right way' to properly eat string cheese. We have fond memories of playing hide-and-go-seek, chasing after each other on the playground, and mischievously staying up during nap time."

They ended up going to different elementary schools and eventually lost touch.

They reconnected years later during their freshman year of high school after Laura saw Matt’s name in a mutual friend’s phone

Within two weeks they were boyfriend and girlfriend. They attended different high schools and went to college in different states, but they stayed together through it all.

On May 23, 2015, he brought her back to the place where it all began: their preschool. The girl thought they were there just for a picnic, but Matt got down on one knee and asked her to marry him, and she accepted.

In true fairy tale fashion, they tied the knot with all their friends and family there to watch and celebrate.

To be able to only love that one person with your whole heart through thick and thin and throughout your entire lives is probably one of the most beautiful forms of love there is, and we are so happy these two found it!
