6 Natural Remedies That Can Help You With Varicose And Spider Veins

August 15, 2018

Varicose and spider veins are a common diagnosis, causing not just an aesthetic problem but pain and discomfort. You can easily recognize them by their deep blue or purple color because the veins usually get twisted and gnarled, building cords on the legs. At first, they may give you no discomfort, but as the condition remains untreated, the veins may enlarge even more and cause bad blood circulation, swollen ankles, severe pain, cramps, and bleeding.

According to PubMed Health, about 20% of adults will get this diagnosis eventually, so it’s even more important to know the reasons and the treatment. The causes may include pregnancy, obesity, age and lifestyle (standing in the same position for a long time.)

There is a good news, though. Once you notice you start to develop the condition, you may treat it at home with natural remedies, preventing the veins from getting worse. These simple steps would help you prevent the condition from getting worse, or avoid it altogether:

1. Regular physical exercises with no additional weight load on the legs. They improve blood circulation, keep your muscles toned and your weight under control. Swimming, cycling, yoga, and walking are the best choices.

2. Ditch the tight clothes that obstruct the normal blood circulation.

3. Wear compression stockings, which improve the blood flow, lessen discomfort, pain, and swelling in your legs.

4. Avoid wearing high heels for too long.

5. Quit harmful habits if you have those, and lose weight in case you have some extra.

6. Correct your diet: It’s better to minimize the consumption of salty products and add foods rich in potassium, flavonoids, and fiber to your diet.

7. Visit your physician regularly.

Chop the parsley and boil it with water for 5 minutes. When it cools down, add vitamin E, then stir it well. Apply the paste over the veins. Remove it after 20-30 minutes.

5. Garlic

Garlic is a powerful weapon against inflamed veins due to its allicin content. It is packed with vitamins and it can remove toxins from your body. Apart from  adding it into your daily meals, try it as an outer medicine.

Blend 6 garlic сloves with juice from 3 oranges. Add 2 tablespoons of olive oil. The mixture must sit for 12 hours in a shadowed place before being used. Then, shake it and apply a small amount to the problem area, covering the veins and letting the remedy do its job for 15-20 minutes before rinsing it off.

6. Butcher’s broom

This herb is packed with healthy substances, one of which can relieve pain and inflammation in varicose veins. It also has anti-inflammatory and anti-elastase properties. Butcher’s broom supplements are made from the roots and seeds of the plant, which contain vitamins B and C, calcium, chromium, magnesium, manganese, potassium, selenium, silicon and zinc. It is recommended taking 100 grams of this supplement three times a day. However, if you suffer from high blood pressure or benign prostate hyperplasia, consult your physician first.
