We hardly ever wonder whether the ingredients in the food we eat are a good match, except, perhaps, when it comes to flavour. However, some combinations should be avoided because they can cause stress to our digestive system, or simply neutralize each other's beneficial properties.

Fruit and any meal

It is better to eat fruit for a snack, and not just after your meal. Proteins, fats, and carbs need time to sit in your stomach and be digested. If you eat fruit imediately after a meal, the sugar that it contains will remain in the body longer and start fermenting.

Starchy carbs, as pasta for example, are not recommended to consume with acidic products such as tomatoes. This combination is quite popular, but, in fact, it puts additional pressure on your stomach, making it difficult to digest.

It is not a good choice for dinner! Such food combination will most likely result in gas, bloating, and stomach ache.

Cereal and orange juice are classical breakfast foods! However, this combination is a threat to the stomach. Orange juice contains acid and it destroys the enzyme that is responsible for digesting the starches present in cereal. The best option is to drink orange juice in half an hour after eating cereal.
