Actor John Stamos recently announced that he's going to be a father for the first ever at the age of 54 as his fiance, Caitlin McHugh is pregnant.
Speaking to PEOPLE, Stamos revealed that he was not ready to be a dad for a very long time but now, he felt prepared and confident to take on the most important role of his life - being a father.
He told the publication that his "youthful" looks have always led him to believe that he was not getting older. "People say, 'Oh, you look young,'" he said, "you'll start believing you're gonna live to be 150."
He also added that whenever people brought up the issue of him having kids, he would respond by telling them "the ship had sailed." Well, apparently he was wrong.
When Caitlin got pregnant, Stamos was ready to step up in more ways than one. After asking her parents for permission, he proposed to his beautiful lady.
For the proposal, Stamos chose Disneyland as the venue because it was a place Caitlin loved very much. He went down on one knee and asked her to marry him. Afterwards, he shared a beautiful drawing of them on Instagram and announced their engagement.
Stamos did admit to Entertainment Tonight in November that he desired to be a father.
It would be a tragedy if I didn't have children and I finally found the right woman — the perfect woman.
While a lot of dads would be a little bit nervous about having a baby for the first time, Stamos said he was not worried at all. In fact, he had a plan.
I've been practising for a long time. I've done every shtick you can do with a baby on TV ... all the bits and jokes and diaper gags. I'll probably just do all that.
We sure cannot wait to meet his little baby. We have to applaud the handsome star for waiting until he felt ready to have children.
