Twin brothers Justin and Joshua Thorington have always been close. So it came as no surprise to them when they had their respective first child on the same day - and at the same hospital.
When their spouses were pregnant, the brothers joked about what it would be like if their babies both arrived on the same day. "We've always been pretty in sync," Joshua told PEOPLE adding that even though some may find it odd, he's not very surprised.
The 33-year-old and his wife, Denise, welcomed their baby boy, Jack Andrew on the morning of March 27. Alex Raphael, Justin's wife, gave birth to Lucy Elise later that night.
The brothers were very excited when they found out that they would be going through the parenthood journey together.
Joshua went on to explain that Denise was due on March 25 while Alex's due date was not until April 6. That's nearly two weeks apart. When Denise went into labor two days after she was due, the couple had no idea that Justin was just down the hall in another delivery room with his wife.
Jack arrived at 4 a.m and as they were sharing the happy news with their family, Joshua was surprised when his twin brother did not respond. Justin later sent his brother a text saying Alex had gone into labor that same day.
Not only are the men super close, their spouses seem to be too. After Denise had her baby, she even walked down the hall to help Alex through her delivery. It was such an amazing outcome that many people took to social media to congratulate the couples.
Alex and Denise were very happy with the "uniqueness" of the situation, and like everyone else they were very surprised by the wonderful coincidence. The fathers now hope that the two cousins will be as close as their dads are. Joshua told PEOPLE:
We were always best friends. My mom said that even before we could talk we were so close that we had our own language. Even from an early age we were close and inseparable. Our whole lives we’ve been very close. We never wanted to be away from each other.
Now both couples are very happy and looking forward to raising their kids together.
