While Kate Middleton has been known to us as Prince William's wife for a few years now, Meghan Markle has officially attained the royal status on the 19th of May after marrying Prince Harry. So, it's no surprise that being linked to two of the most powerful brothers in Britain has put these women right in the middle of the spotlight.
You probably never imagined that the way they take pictures can actually tell a lot about who they are. Having your pictures taken is one of the major parts of being a royal.
The cameras are always flashing whenever members of the British monarchy are in public. So, it's interesting to see that Meghan and Kate have a different approach when it comes to this area. Their wedding pictures are no exception.
While both women are absolutely stunning and look fantastic on camera, there is a slight, yet telling difference when it comes to how they take pictures.
If you take a closer look, you'll notice that the Duchess of Cambridge hardly ever looks directly at the camera. Even when it's a close-up shot, she almost always averts her face.
The former American actress, on the other hand, is often pictured looking squarely at the cameras. The Duchess of Sussex Meghan has been out on a number of royal events since the announcement of her engagement to Prince Harry. And in that time, there have been several instances of her looking directly at the cameras when her pictures were taken.
So what does this difference mean? A body language expert and author, Judi James, who spoke to GoodHousekeeping on the subject, said that this may very likely be a generational difference between the two women.
Even though both women are of the same age, the young women in the "selfie generation" have formed a habit of "camera courting" which involves gazing directly at the camera.
(It) suggests a desire to communicate openly and confidently in the way that her peers would do via social media and blogs.
As for Kate's relationship with the camera, James described it as "more passive."
The fact she has even got behind the camera herself to snap some of her children's' official photos suggests a slightly more introverted personality than the very camera-confident Meghan.
We can notice a difference in posing between these wonderful ladies the moment they were walking with their new husbands.
Catherine shies away from the cameras, while Meghan faces them with confidence.
The simple fact is, these two women are different in many ways and it's quite interesting to see how the things that make them stand out are those things that inspire admiration from fans. So whether they look at the camera or away from it, they are both smart, stylish and stunning ladies.
