It is saddening how pets become victims of abuse and neglect after their owners get tired of them, and this Weimaraner suffered this fate.

A poor dog named Murray contracted a virus called distemper while he was still a puppy. This virus is responsible for destroying the respiratory and nervous system and has even led to the death of many dogs.

For Murray, this virus made him unable to keep his tongue in his mouth. He also has no teeth, has bone deformation and ears that are not aligned on his head, which makes him look different.

Due to his condition, Murray was dumped on a beach known as Dead Dog Beach, in Puerto Rico, because dogs are left there to die. Luckily for the canine, his story did not end like that.

The Sato Project to the rescue!

Fortunately for the pooch, he was recused by a canine charity called The Sato Project and transported to US mainland where he was sent to a vet.

After realizing that the dog had distemper, the only option was to euthanize the poor pup, but at the very last minute, at the sight of his wagging tail, the vet decided to treat him.

Even though his siblings died, Murray defied all the odds and got better with treatment. Despite his different face, Mackenzie Gallant and her family fell in love with Murray and adopted him.

Murray and his human sister Mackenzie share a special bond. He sleeps in her room every night, even after she left for college.

Gallant told Daily Mail:

“The signature tongue out is just the cutest thing, and his crooked features, if you look at his face closely, you notice his ears aren't aligned right on his head. His quirks make him even cuter and more special.”

Happy Murray gets people's support

Murray is now a happy dog. He has gained a lot of followers on Instagram after Mackenzie opened an account to help raise awareness about rescue dogs, The Sato Project, and distemper.

The survivor dog could not have found a better home than the Gallants', who are truly happy with Murray and cannot imagine their lives without him. What a happy ending for the lad.
