Date January 22, 2019

Dogs are one of the most amazing pets you could have. They are loyal and protective: no wonder they are man's best friends. Unfortunately, it seems that man is not a dog's best friend: They are still being abandoned, left to fend for themselves, or caged and left to die.

Although there are a million and one reasons you might want to abandon your dog, there’s always a better solution other than simply leave a pup to its own devices.

Are you thinking of moving out, or are you ill and can no longer care for your dog? Don’t abandon that dog. Think of friends or family who can help you look after the dog till you are okay or settled in. However, if no one is willing, contact local animal rescue groups for suggestions.

Does your dog suddenly develop health issues? You can find a veterinarian or a specialist to check your pet, and if it isn’t anything relating to health, find a trainer, and if you cannot afford one, you can always learn about dog training.

Neglecting a dog is never the answer, and these kind policemen understood that.

Abandoned dog gets a happy ending

Dice, was a 3-year-old pit bull mix when he became one of many dogs that had been shoved into a cage and left to die in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

Luckily,  he was discovered by children who alerted police officers serving eviction notices in the neighborhood.

The condition of the dog was so very critical that he couldn’t take five steps without falling. He was dehydrated and anemic.

Tracey Godin, the co-founder of Feeling Fine Rescue, told The Dodo that:

“In my opinion, if he had been in that cage another day, he would not have made it.”

The policemen took him to the shelter while a volunteer, who happened to be a friend of Godin's, took pictures of Dice and shared it online.

Godin was moved by the pictures and decided to take Dice to the vet. After his visit to the vet, Dice came to live at Feeling Fine Rescue, which Godin and her daughter run from their home.

Amazingly, the dog gained 10 pounds after the first week, and within three weeks, was 65 pounds.

He also started to smile, and his face was glowing with happiness. Finally, Dice got a family who fell in love with him and adopted him immediately.

Big Head Big Hearts

Although pit bulls are perceived as aggressive dogs, this video helps demystify the myths about them.

They are friendly dogs, contrary to the popular belief that they are wild and dangerous.

They love to snuggle and would never attack anybody except when they are pushed to behave that way.

If you see an abandoned dog that’s a pit bull and you think they are dangerous, they are not. Endeavor to give them any help possible by taking them to the animal shelter or animal control. You might even end up adopting it!
