Elephants are capable of so much compassion, love, bravery, and ingenuity. And they say that elephants never forget. The truth of this amazing bond is shown in a heartwarming video of two elephants, reuniting after over two decades of separation.
The story happened thanks to The Elephant Sanctuary in Hohenwald, Tennessee, where the aminals met.
Shirley and Jenny's reunion
Meet Shirley and Jenny! These two crippled elephants saw each other for the first time in 22 years. Jenny was brought from Asia to the United States when she was young to work in the circus. When she arrived, she became friends with Shirley. Shirley took care of Jenny, and she seemed to take on a mother figure in the tiny elephant’s life. Unluckily, after the years of their bond, the duo was separated.
However, after 22 years, it was time for Shirley And Jenny to meet each other once again.
It was the year 2000 when Shirley was brought to the Elephant Sanctuary in Tennessee. When they two met for the first time in a long while, the keepers didn't know how the elephants would react. They even separated Shirley and Jenny by an iron railing as a safety measure.
However, no one expected what happened next. They recognized each other immediately. Unable to get closer, they settled for interlocking their trunks.
The keeper, who had been with Shirley, was in tears as he gave her the last bath he ever would.
It was a tear-jerking moment as the two animals reached reunited. Through the night, long trumpeting could be heard.
The elephants tried to touch each other, even they had bent the iron bars of the railing. What an inseparable bond!
Then a keeper managed to inch the railing open so the elephants could truly be together. It was nothing short of breathtaking as they met.
The heartwarming story goes a long way to prove animals are a lot like humans. They can feel and love. People should always remember that aminals are just like humans. They may not be able to express themselves as humans do, but they feel pain in the same way.
Animals don't deserve the kind of life they have in circuses. It is just inhumane to be cruel to any animal. Spread only love!
