Pets are amazing creatures. They offer the companionship and love that many people may be unable to find in their fellow humans.
However, they are also very vulnerable and have to often face terrible experieces because they ended up in the wrong hands, thus becoming a victim of abuse.

The most common form of animal abuse is neglect and, surprisingly, it is easily overlooked. Its signs include minor details, such as inadequate grooming, to severe problemas like constant weakness, and untreated wounds. Some other major pointers are malnutrition, emaciated appearance, and sometimes total lack of care.
They have horrific consequences on these helpless animals, and an example of such is the story below.
On a fateful day, members of the J.J. Woofin' Paws Rescue were out on their routine route around the city when they came across a dog in the desert.
The Cocker Spaniel was walking aimlessly, and its fur was matted that they were unable to identify if it was male or female.
It was evident that the dog had been abandoned and so they decided to jump to its rescue.
At the shelter, they decided to name her Dorothy in the hopes that she was a girl. Surprisingly, they were right.
She had an eye infection and lacked very basic grooming. Still, the men were inspired by her undying spirit and were hell-bent on doing all they could for her.
Within a few weeks, Dorothy had gotten a total makeover, and they were surprised by how she lit up.
All she needed was some care, and the difference in her attitude was spontaneous when she got it.
She was put up for adoption, and it took 2 months for her to find a family who was glad to have her with them. How sweet!
How to help homeless pets
There are many other helpless animals like Dorothy on the streets, and it will take general effort to save them from their cruel fate.
Although not everyone may be willing to adopting a pet, little things such as donations to a shelter, taking part in animal care seminars, and helping these animals find a new home, go a long way in making a difference.
