Did you know that having cats in your environment can actually make you healthier? Not only are these adorable felines a delight to have around, but they are also great for your mood and stress level as well.

According to Purina, spending as little as 15 minutes of quality time with a cat can calm your nerves and improve your mood. This means that, in the long run, being a cat owner can be great for your health.

If this is news to you, then you have a lot of catching up to do. One Japanese company has figured all this out and is apparently reaping the benefits.

The company, Ferray Corporations, which is based in Tokyo, decided to make their employees happier and more comfortable at work by rescuing cats and bringing them to their offices.

The internet solutions business reportedly turned their offices into a home for nine rescue cats and these feline cuties have since become mood elevators and stress relievers for the staff.

Apart from these cats, the company also encouraged employees to bring their pets to work. And if they did not have pets, the management would give them 5,000 yen (US$42) every month as a 'cat bonus' for anyone who would adopt a pet that needed a home.

Sure, having cats around the office can have some drawbacks. For instance, the little cuties could accidentally switch off computers, chew on cables, tear papers and scratch the walls. However, these little annoyances were not enough to overshadow the benefits for the Japanese company.

Since implementing its cat policies, the company reported an increase in productivity and unity among employees. Stress levels are lowered and everyone is in a better mood. It's impossible to be angry while watching an adorable cat purring contentedly on your desk, right?
