Not all dogs that arrive at animal shelters end up getting adopted, but this cutie was lucky enough to find a new family. And from her expression, it's clear that she couldn't be more thrilled.

According to the Anti-Cruelty Society, Lady has been in the shelter for a long time. She was initially adopted but the family who took her in returned her only a couple of months later.

Still, Lady remained hopeful that she would one day find a real home with a family that can keep her forever, and that wish eventually came true.

The adorable dog was super excited to be going to her new home. She happily wagged her tail and hopped into her new family's car. However, there was something more that she got to take with her.

Lady and her family were gifted with a bag full of stuffed animals because the shelter knew how much the dog loved to snuggle with these toys.  In fact, she must have been so glad about the special gift that she even stuck out her tongue cheekily in one of the pictures.

A few days later, Janet Pieper, Lady's new human mom, shared a picture of the dog to show how much she was enjoying her new home. Apparently, she loved the large yard she got to be able to play in and explored the whole place.

Janet and her family sure seemed to be enjoying having Lady around.

Many Facebook users shared comments about how happy they are for Lady, and wished her all the best with her family.

This is such a heartwarming story and it highlights the importance of adopting a dog from a shelter. There are many pets who are still hopeful for someone to come around and change their lives. Judging from the look on Lady's face when she was adopted, we can safely guess that these dogs will be more than happy to find a forever home.

Congratulations, Lady. We hope you continue to have fun exploring the yard and putting smiles on the faces of your new family.
