American actor Gary Sinise has always been invested in charity work, most especially when men in uniform are concerned.

He has been known to contribute immensely towards helping firefighters, war veterans, and their families and this has made him a source of inspiration for many people.

Apart from being a philanthropist, Gary is also famous for his role as a Lieutenant Dan, an emotionally tortured disabled veteran, in the award-winning 1994 movie 'Forrest Gump.'

Many think this is why Gary has developed a soft heart for war heroes, but the actor has spoken differently. However, he revealed his motivation for his good deeds on his website

The Gary Sinise Foundation has given 233 relief grants to police, firefighters and EMTs, and 162,000 meals provided to the nation’s defenders.

The foundation has also given 70 specially adapted homes for disabled veterans, amongst many other charity works.

Recently Gary took it up a notch with a free concert for the war heroes.

Gary and his band, The Lt. Dan Band, named after his character in 'Forrest Gump', organized a free concert for war veterans at NAS Jax.

According to the philanthropist, it was his way of honoring the troops at the First Coast, and they loved him for it.
