Lagerfeld went far and beyond to become one of the most dominant fashion designers of all times. The German designer made the Chanel fashion house the power elite it is today. He left this world on Tuesday morning in Paris.

Many notable people, including Gabrielle "Coco" Chanel, Anna Wintour, the editor-in-chief of Vogue, Chanel CEO Alain Wertheimer, and many more, had only wonderful things to say about the late influencer.

However, as expected, not everybody had good things to say about him.

The other side of the coin

Wear Your Voice Mag, a website known for emancipation, took the liberty of ranting on behalf of the people that were oppressed by Lagerfeld during his lifetime.

The article stands out from all other ones that wrote only admirable things about the great designer. The article revealed that Lagerfeld was an islamophobic, racist, misogynistic, fatphobic. among other things.

It recalled some of his unfavorable moments, which included his careless statement on the #MeTooMovement. He treated models who joined the movement with spite during an interview saying:

“If you don’t want your pants pulled about, don’t become a model! Join a nunnery. There’ll always be a place for you in the convent. They’re recruiting even!”

He has also hurled some abusive words to famous female icons, like the singer Adele, calling her 'a little too fat' and, to Pippa Middleton, the Duchess of Cambridge's sister, referring to her as ugly and advising her only to show her back to the world as he didn't like her face.

His hateful speech has not been directed exclusively to women. Muslims were also a target as he said that they were not welcome in Europe back in 2017.

In agreement to Wear Your Voice Mag, ‘The Good Place’ actress Jameela Jamil disagreed with the amiable filter effect most people attached to Lagerfeld.

Jamil used Twitter as her medium to rant along with the link to the Wear Your Voice Mag article by Lara Witt.

Diverse reactions to the controversy

The tweet ensued an online disagreement between Jamil and Lagerfeld's pal and muse, model Cara Delevingne. Jamil's tweet about the late designer is a controversy, and Twitter users expressed their opinions in the comments section.

Some people agreed that Jamil should respect the dead, while others believe that Jamil did the right thing by speaking out.

Although the reputation of the late Lagerfeld may be getting damaged soon after his death, the facts shouldn't be ignored entirely. Nevertheless, we pray that his soul rests in peace.
