Despite the awesomeness and joy associated with being a parent, tantrums and emotional outbursts can be a pain in the back. Worse, they are inevitable. It has been revealed that they are kids' little ways of dealing with their issues. Understanding what causes these unpleasant behaviors is vital to being able to manage them effectively.

First and most common, the emotional state of the child could be a pointer to why they are throwing tantrums. Emotions such as anger, frustration, and anxiety are capable of triggering these outburst. Secondly, health conditions and environment. Lastly, voluntary behavior. Although parents often take 'voluntary behavior' as the primary cause, this is far from the truth.

Of course, these struggles of parenting do not exclude royalty. The Duchess of Cambridge, Kate Middleton, has shown she's got exceptional skills when it comes to handling such situations.

Kate performs her tricks

On June 9, 2018, members of the royal family were gathered together for the Trooping of the Colour ceremony. The family was all smiles as they stood by the balcony. Little princess Charlotte was, however, lost in the moment as she almost fell off the balcony while having fun. It was left for her mother to handle the situation, which she did excellently.

Her first strategy is one that's quite famous in the parenting book. She bent down to Charlotte's side, coming down to her level and maintaining eye contact. This helped show support to her child. Then she picked her little girl up and held her, offering her safety and comfort.

Kate also employed the use of distraction to take Charlotte's mind off the discomfort. "Look," she said while pointing to the sky. Well, that's a superhero mom and, apparently, it was enough to get the princess back to a good mood.

Other hacks?

There are quite a number of ways you can suppress emotional outbursts in kids.

1. Food: A couple of snacks to munch on now and then can save you a lot of trouble. However, be careful not to let your kids abuse this privilege, so to speak.

2. Music: Music is food to the soul and sometimes it can help relieve a troubled mind. If you're having problems with your toddler, you probably haven't found the right song to soothe them.

3. Something to squeeze: This could be a toy, or anything fluffy. It has been found that this can provide relief to children and could be a good remedy for tantrums.

Although these emotional outbursts are sometimes unpredictable, you can surely get better at handling them. Kate is doing pretty well at it, and so can you.
