"Black Sabbath" Bassist Geezer Butler Comes Out to Speak Against Declawing Cats

Date January 17, 2019

While declawing might seem like the easiest and fastest way to prevent your household from being somewhat spilt by your cat’s claws, take a minute to think about the effect this procedure will have on your pet.

Many cat lovers have agreed that declawing is an inhuman act.

The procedure of declawing is a painful surgery with excruciating recovery time. Amputating the claws of your cat also affects its stance and balance.

Remember that a cat relies on its claws for defense and by taking it away you’re putting it in danger.

Geezer Butler Agrees

The favorite rock band ‘Black Sabbath’ also agree with the fact that declawing a cat is barbaric.

Their bassist, Geezer Butler, joined the Humane Society of the United States to show his support for the New York declawing ban, according to LoudWire.

If this bill is passed, New York will be the very first state in the United States to ban the declawing of cats.

Other Countries, such as Israel, Brazil and most of Europe, have already banned the procedure.

Geezer wrote:

“Many know me as one of the founding members of Black Sabbath, but fewer likely know that I am what you might call a ‘crazy cat person.’

Trying to depict the pain these feline creatures go through, Geezer concluded:

“Can you imagine having your fingers chopped off at the last bone?”

Geezer is in full support of the ban, and he is using his band's upcoming farewell tour in New York, which will take place from the 25th to 27th of February, to promote this cause.

Everyone agrees!

With recent stories about cats that have been declawed, thousands of cats lovers have come out to speak up on the fact that it is wrong to harm an animal in such a way.

Though cats tend to destroy household things with their claws, there are some cat-friendly options, like nail caps, that can help prevent the destruction of properties.

We hope their voices get heard and the act of declawing cats is banned in the throughout the US and, hopefully, everywhere in the world. No creature should have to experience such pain!
