Prince Philip And Queen Elizabeth Have Separate Bedrooms And The Reason Is Understandable

Hearing that a couple have separate bedrooms is quite unusual and can spell disaster to most people. It is like Marriage 101- always sleep together because intimacy is essential to keep the marriage strong.
However, if a couple has been married for 71 years in spite of having different bedrooms, then there is probably something to be learned from it.
Draw your seats closer and lean in to hear the simple reason for this.
In Sally Bedell Smith’s biography that chronicles the life of the monarch, and which is scheduled to be released next February, Lady Pamela Hicks, the Queen's cousin, reveals the reason for this.
She explained that separate bedrooms are pretty commonplace amongst the upper-class.
“You don’t want to be bothered with snoring or someone flinging a leg around. Then when you are feeling cozy, you share your bedroom sometimes. It is lovely to be able to choose.”
You didn’t expect that to be the reason, did you? Neither did we, but as basic as it sounds, it seems to work for the couple. Besides, the pair is used to going against the grain.
They met when Her Majesty was just 13 years old, and they soon began exchanging letters. They kept seeing each other till he proposed at the age of 26. She was only 20, then.
The oddity? He did so without her father's, King George’s, knowledge.
The King was predictably displeased and arranged a royal tour for the entire family, so the official announcement of their engagement was delayed till the following year.
The lovebirds could finally be together in 1947, but the demands of becoming the Duke of Edinburgh and husband to the Queen required that Prince Philip resign from the Navy, and it was quite unusual for a husband to give up his career for his wife, especially in those days, but he did it anyway.
One more eventful thing about this couple is that, on their wedding day, Queen Elizabeth’s tiara snapped. Of all days for that to happen! Luckily, the court jeweler was there to save the day in the nick of time.
Considering the many weird things that may have happened in their lifetime together, and there must be tons we don't know about, their having separate bedrooms must be quite normal. And, as it was said before, they have been together 71 years so there must be some advantage to that!
