Being the Queen of England, of course, comes with many perks and, apparently, one is that the Queen gets to celebrate her birthday twice a year.

Her Majesty's actual date of birth is April 21. On this day, she celebrates in a private event with just close family. But it's not until a Saturday in June (for this year, it was June 9) that she will officially celebrate her birthday.

Expectedly, this official event involves all forms of amazing pageantry. There will be carriage and horse procession known as Trooping the Colour.

In addition, other members of the royal family will join her at the Buckingham Palace balcony to address the crowd that are gathered in her honor.

So, why two birthdays a couple of months apart? Evidently, it's pretty simple. It's all due to the weather. April is not really the best time for a bright royal parade.

This tradition was not started by the Queen, though. In 1748, King George II (who was actually born in October) chose to have a combination of the annual summer military march and his birthday celebration, which resulted in a spectacular event.

Since then, regardless of when they are born, royal rulers can choose to celebrate an official birthday in the summer.

So, when Prince Charles becomes King, it's very likely he will do the same as his own birthday falls in November, which is not really the best month to have a parade, weather-wise.

And what about Prince William? Well, his birthday is on June 22 so he does not need to have two celebrations if he doesn't want it. But he may want to continue the tradition, though, so he can enjoy both a private birthday party and one with the rest of world.

The 2018 Trooping The Colour was as fascinating as one might expect.

The birthday royal looked stunning in a bright blue outfit, as the rest of the family gathered around her on the balcony. Long live the Queen!
