The royal wedding is not just the ceremony of uniting two people, it is paying the tribute to the old traditions that the royal family has been following for centuries.

The wedding that took place on the 19th of May and made Prince Harry and Meghan Markle the new Duke and Duchess of Sussex, was one of a kind as it marked the history with a number of novelties due to the blend of British and American traditions.

Besides, the fact that Prince Harry was getting married with his beard was a breach of a royal protocol too. However, the Queen decided to make an exception for her beloved grandson and allowed him not to shave the beard off for the day of his nuptials.

Traditionally, the members of the royal family walk to the altar with a smooth and polished face! Harry's older brother William, and the father Prince Charles are always clean shaved no matter the occasion.

125 years ago, Harry’s great-great-grandfather George V was the last one to wear a beard at his wedding day, tying the knot with Princess Mary of Teck in 1893.

Prince Harry might pay a tribute to his ancestor or to his own style.

The Prince attended the Royal Military Academy in Sandhurst. Normally, the British Army does not allow having facial hair, so this is when the groom broke one more rule. He was getting married wearing the military uniform and having a beard.

All men in the royal family wear their military uniform at the wedding ceremony. However, Prince Harry retired from the military service in 2015, and that means he needs no permission in the shaving issue.

The new Duke of Sussex is an attractive man, no matter if he is shaven or not.

Anyway, Harry’s wife seemed to enjoy the look of her husband. He started to wear the beard after he left the army, in 2015, the year before he met Meghan Markle.

This couple has been caught on breaking the royal protocol a few times already, so doing things their own way seems to work perfectly for them.
