The past week has been frantic and insanely busy for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex. Just after Princess Eugenie’s wedding, on Friday October 12th, and the announcement made on Monday of the baby they are expecting by spring, they set out for a 16-day royal tour of Australia, New Zealand, and the Pacific islands.
With the first week over, it has been confirmed that the Duchess, Meghan Markle, has cut down her schedule due to exhaustion.
Apparently, the 37-year-old had a late night after the Invictus Games opening ceremony on Saturday, so the Duke showed up alone to watch the road cycling competition.
A Royal source explained that,
“She’s feeling fine, but resting.”
Meanwhile, a senior palace source said,
A senior Palace source said: “After a busy programme, The #DukeandDuchessOfSussex have decided to cut back The Duchess's schedule slightly for the next couple of days, ahead of the final week and a half of the tour.” #RoyalTourAustralia— Russell Myers (@rjmyers) October 21, 2018
Evidently, the couple has decided to pace themselves. While this seems like a normal thing to do, some people are having none of it.
After Royal reporter Chris Ship posted the announcement on Twitter, a number of people had not-so-nice-things to say.
OMfuckingG, she’s only pregnant not ill. Through my pregnancies I worked in a factory making clothes for M&S and I slogged my guts out from 8-4.30 on a machine, and my maternity didn’t start until you were 36-37 weeks and I went back to work when my son was 8 wks...— Strepsils (@streps61) October 21, 2018
Its all abt her ..she always wnats to be the center of attention..such a drama girl— rabz k (@rabzk2) October 21, 2018
Luckily, the Duchess has mothers in her corner, too. One wrote,
Of course pregnancy shouldn’t be treated as an illness, but my god growing a human can be absolutely exhausting (I was regularly asleep by 8pm in my pregs) It’s a tiredness deep into your bones. Babies take what they need first, leaving Mum to cope with the scraps that are left.— Jennifer 🌹 (@LadySassington) October 21, 2018
One more added,
Who are you to judge how she feels. Women can be sick and exhausted when pregnant. It is no joke. She is smart to take a break!!— Terry (@Terry13850774) October 22, 2018
Later in on Sunday afternoon, Meghan joined her husband for the other engagements and to meet with the Australian Prime Minister, Scott Morrison.
We bet Meghan is grateful to the moms for rising to her defense.
