Pregnancy shouldn't be a time for you to hide your growing bump in dull colors and drab shades. As Meghan Markle proved recently, you can rock colorful outfits even more beautifully when you have a bun in the oven.
The Duchess of Sussex was recently spotted in Birkenhead, England, wearing a long red coat reportedly by Sentaler. She paired it with a matching set of heels. Beneath the coat was a lovely purple dress from Babaton by Aritizia. Then, she finished things up by carrying a Gabriela Hearst bag.
Mixing such a bold red color with a rich purple may seem like a scary choice for many women, but there is no doubt that Meghan wore it well. It turns out that she just may have been inspired by another royal who considered this daring color combo a favorite.
Princess Diana was also a fashion icon while she was alive and loved to play with color. And yup, one of her favorite combos were purple and red. She was pictured a few times in outfits of those colors.
For example, in 1989, Diana wore this lovely purple skirt with a red jacket on a trip to Hong Kong.
Three years later, she wore the same outfit, minus the hat, when she visited the Taj Mahal in India.
In 1988, the People Princess attended a dinner in Bangkok, Thailand, where those colors were her fashion choice again. She was spotted in a Catherine Walker red dress to which she added a purple single-shoulder sash.
We have to say, just like the royal before her, Meghan Markle wore those bright colors well. As usual, her baby bump took center stage and the pregnant Duchess was positively glowing!
