The One Significant Difference Between Meghan Markle's First Royal Speech And Kate Middleton's

The Duchess of Sussex recently gave her first ever speech as a royal and many people agree that she did a fantastic job. But how did she compare to Kate Middleton's first speech as a Duchess?
In 2012, almost a year after her wedding to Prince William, Kate Middleton gave her first ever royal speech to the audience at the opening of the Treehouse hospice in Ipswich.
Meghan Markle, on the other hand, addressed the women of the Hubb Community Kitchen, who had welcomed her shortly after she moved to London. She appreciated their input for her first royal project, which is a cookbook titled 'Together'.

Did you spot one big difference?
One of the first things you'll notice when looking at the two speeches is that, while Kate relied heavily on notes for her speech, Meghan went the complete opposite way. The Duchess of Cambridge can be seen pausing frequently and looking at her notes while addressing the audience.
However, Meghan, who's probably already a pro at memorizing lines from her days as an actress, spoke from the heart and did not need to be reminded of any details.
There is also the fact that while Kate had to wait for nearly a year after her wedding to make her first speech, Meghan made hers only four months after tying the knot to Prince Harry.
In addition, Meghan was not totally alone at the event. Her husband, Prince Harry, and her mother, Doria Ragland, were there to offer their support. Kate, however, had no on-site family support.
It looked like Kate and Meghan had the same idea in terms of fashion because they both opted for a similar color scheme. Meghan wore a three-quarter length cobalt blue coat over a cashmere bodysuit and pleated skirt. A black pair of suede pumps completed her look.
Back in 2012, Kate Middleton wore a blue dress and, like Meghan, opted for black heels as well.
The Duchesses also showed support for charities they are passionate about. Meghan made it clear that the Hubb Community Kitchen impacted her greatly when she moved to London.
The Treehouse Hospice, which Kate spoke for, was a branch of the East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices (EACH) - one of the first charities she became a patron of since becoming a duchess.
Kate and Meghan did a fantastic job in their respective speeches. They inspired their audience and made quite an impression.
