The Duchess of Sussex was also at the sports game to support tennis star Serena Williams.

Both ladies met at a charity football game in 2014. Speaking about her friend, Williams once told Vanity Fair that "her personality just shines."

How Kate and Meghan's friendship compares with late Diana and Sarah Ferguson's relationship

When both royals stepped out at Wimbledon 2018, many saw a similarity between their friendship and that of once-sisters-in-law Diana, Princess of Wales and Sarah, Duchess of York.

In fact, Diana and Sarah used to attend Wimbledon together as well. Both in 1988 and 1989, they were pictured together and seemed super close.

The photo below was taken in 1988. Diana and Duchess Sarah can be seen greeting each other with a kiss on the cheek before sitting and enjoying the day with a mutual friend.

A year later, a similar situation was seen when Diana and Sarah took a trip to Wimbledon again.

Now, decades later, Meghan and Kate seem to be portraying the same dynamic.

Sarah and Diana's friendship didn't really end well, though

In a 2011 interview with Harpers Bazaar, Sarah Ferguson revealed that she and Diana's friendship was strained towards the end.

"And the saddest thing, in the end, we hadn't spoken for a year, though I never knew the reason, except that once Diana got something in her head...I tried, wrote letters, thinking whatever happened didn't matter, let's sort it out. And I knew she'd come back. In fact, the day before she died she rang a friend of mine and said, 'Where's that Red? I want to talk to her."

We sure hope Kate and Meghan's friendship will have a much happier ending.
