On the 30th of November 2018, one of America's greatest heroes passed away. George H. W. Bush served as the 41st president of the United States and did a lot for his country. But he also was a loving and caring husband.

George H. W. Bush passed at the age of 94, after years and years of service. It was only eight months after the death of his beloved wife and former Barbara Bush. Their love story moved millions of hearts all over the world. Undoubtedly, their love will endure the test of time.

Wonderful love story

George and Barbara met when they were very young. They saw each other for the first time at a Christmas party in 1941. George was just 17 while Barbara was 16. It sounds like a fairytale, but that was love at first sight.

They were head over heels for each another. George and Barbara had met each other's families within a space of 8 months.

It was a long-distance relationship. Barbara continued her studies in South Carolina and George attended Phillips Academy in Massachusetts.

Nonetheless, their connection became even stronger. They were in touch through letters and sometimes traveled by train to see each other. Distance wasn't a problem for their love.

Several years later, George joined the naval force in the heat of World War II, and on September 2, 1944, his division was shot down over the Pacific. He managed to survive and come back home. George and Barbara got married on January 2, 1946.

The couple had six children, but tragically they lost a daughter, Robin, to leukemia when she was only 3 years old. Barbara said it was a hard time for her and her family. The woman even had episodes of chronic depression but George never left her side.

George became a very successful businessman and politician. And his lovely wife remained by his side all the time.

They stayed together, despite the hard times. One of their sons, Jeb Bush once said:

After many years together, she passed away on the 17th of April 2018, in Texas. Her loving husband was by her side, through her last moments.
