Many people are now becoming advocates for public breastfeeding. Despite that, moms who breastfeed in public are still facing a lot of negativity.
Women are choosing to breastfeed in private
In a 2016 study published in the National Institutes of Health, it turned out that women are still trying to avoid breastfeeding in public. The report showed that one-third of breastfeeding mothers would rather avoid the stigma and find a private place to breastfeed.

In fact, one in ten new mothers choose not to breastfeed at all and one of the main reasons for their choice was that they worry about the 'shame' of having to breastfeed in public.
It's a good thing we have moms who are ready to fight back if they are shamed in public for feeding their babies.
A nursing mom's revenge
Two years ago, a mother who was breastfeeding was approached by a lady who claimed the nursing mom was distracting her husband.

In a post shared on a Facebook forum, the lady said the breastfeeding woman did not need to react the way she did. Apparently, from the post, after she told the mom that her nursing made things uncomfortable for her child and her "very easily distracted husband," the mother squirted at her with her boobs.
To the lady Dartford park who thought it was appropriate to breastfeed her baby whist my child and very easily distracted husband sat near by. I don't think it was necessary for you to react the way you did just because I asked you to go somewhere private, telling me to f*** off and squirting me with your boobs was incredibly uncalled for. I hope you are ashamed of yourself!
The lady then went on to say that the nursing mother overreacted in that situation and that all she did was tell her to find somewhere more private to breastfeed. The anonymous writer said she hoped the nursing mother felt ashamed for the way she reacted.
Most people who commented on the story did not agree that the breastfeeding mother was wrong to feed her baby in public. In fact, some felt the nosy wife deserved what she got and it was not the nursing mom's fault that her husband was so easily distracted.
It's pretty sad that breastfeeding mothers still get such a bad attitute from others that they are seriously avoiding doing it altogether.
