Woman Becomes Viral Sensation After Singing Missy Elliot's 'Work It' And The Internet Can't Stop Laughing

A woman became an internet sensation after a video of her singing a karaoke version of Missy Elliot's 'Work It' went viral.

Missy Elliot's 'Work It'

The American rapper released this song in 2002 and it became a massive hit. It was so successful that it sat at the number 2 spot on the Billboard Hot 100 for many weeks, starting from November 16, 2002.

Its video even went on to receive the Video of The Year at the 2003 MTV Video Music Awards.

Mary's remix

We bet Mary Halsey was one of those bopping to the song in the early 2000s. Mary, who proclaimed herself to be the undisputed karaoke queen of Goddard Park, gave the audience and millions of people around the world her own rendition of 'Work It.'

A video of her performing the song was shared on her Facebook page and it was so cool that it soon became a big social media hit.

Her funny take on Missy's song was not missed by the singer herself who gave the lady a Twitter shout out, calling her her "funky white sister."

She reposted the video and, in the caption, she also gave a nod to a "backup dancer" that was tip-toeing behind Mary with what looked like a cup of noodles in her hand.

It turns out that this isn't the first time Mary channeled Missy. In a video on her Facebook from three years ago, the Rhode Island woman was seen performing the song on stage. And she absolutely nailed it then, too.

The internet loves it

It's not every day you wake up to such internet gem and thousands of people have applauded this awesome woman, who is obviously enjoying her life.

Props to her for putting smiles on the face of so many people. That's quite an achievement!
