Breaking: Woman With Two Wombs Becomes Pregnant In Both And Gives Birth To Miracle Babies

Date August 2, 2018

Have you ever heard of a condition called bicornuate uterus? It occurs when a woman has a uterus that is heart-shaped. Uterine abnormalities include the septate uterus, where a band of muscle or tissue, called the septum, divides the uterus in two. As a result, there can be repeated miscarriages.

For such women, trying to have a baby can become a nightmare. Nevertheless, they sometimes become loving and devoted mothers no matter what. This is exactly what happened to Jennifer Ashwood, who suffers from bicornuate uterus.

Jennifer was very happy when she learned of her pregnancy. But there were some surprises waiting for her. Doctors discovered the woman had two wombs, and had become simultaneously pregnant in both.

The odds of the phenomenon are 500 million to one, and fewer than a hundred similar cases have been recorded worldwide. Jennifer and her husband were extremely worried about the outcome. Luckily, everything ended up fine.

Jennifer went into labour at 34 weeks and gave birth to a son Piran, weighing 5lb 10oz, and a daughter, Poppy, weighing 5lb 3oz. They spent several weeks at the hospital, but they can now enjoy every moment spent with their happy parents.

Jennifer has never thought anything like that could ever happen:

To have the two [wombs] is rare in itself, but to have an egg in both, then those to be fertilised, and then for both eggs to be in the right part ... it's a bit of a miracle. You think you know your body well, but it turns out you might not.

Despite all the hardship, Jennifer managed to carry her babies to term and now she is the happiest person in the world.
