What is a role model? It is a person who can inspire and be an example for the younger generations because of their high moral values and inspiring stories. Teachers are commonly considered role models for students. But does it mean teachers should give up some parts of their lives, be it their private naughtiness or a drink with friends?

25-year-old teacher Lauren Miranda from Bellport Middle School, in New York, was fired because of a nude selfie. However, Miranda didn’t post it on social media but sent it privately to a former boyfriend, who is also a teacher in the same school.

The students somehow got access to her phone and copied that topless picture. When it started circulating, the woman was fired from her position for not being a decent role model.

The outraged woman said:

What is wrong with my image? It’s my breasts. It’s my chest. It’s my body. It’s something that should be celebrated.

Her lawyer, John Ray, claims this act was discrimination based on gender:

This would never have happened to a male teacher. The Suffolk County Administrators and School Board have not yet discovered that women are equal to men. Lauren is rightly proud of her female torso. A woman’s breasts are not inherently prurient.

Miranda is now filing a 3-million lawsuit against the school administration, but she is sad this incident ruined her career.

I loved my job, I never woke up in the morning and didn't want to go. I loved my students, my faculty. I really thought this is where I was going to spend the next thirty years of my life.

Could people be punished for their private nude pictures?

According to Miranda, the principal said: "How can I put you in front of a classroom where boys would be able to pull out their phone and look at this image of you?" Taking the teacher back would jeopardize her image as an educator and mentor. The male students would not accept her as an authority after seeing the woman posing naked.

It’s still good to know she wants to fight against the unfair treatment. Do you believe her position is right?

It's important to stand for what you think is right! Here is another story to prove you that!

We hope, you enjoyed it!
