It is not surprising that school rules often prescribe uniforms, hairstyles and haircuts. There aren’t any universal directions that apply to all the schools in the US. As far as hairstyles are concerned, the foremost requirement is to keep your head neat and clean. Different schools, however, enforce their own dress codes on hairstyles.

The most common restriction often pertains to long hair for boys, hair died in any color of the rainbow, shaved heads for girls and dreadlocks. Advocates of strict regulations tend to believe that the dress and appearance codes produce good behavior, morality, and a feeling of equality among students. Sometimes, educational institutions can be quite strict and steadfast in their beliefs.
