Losing someone you love is one of the greatest life tragedies, especially when it happens unexpectedly. Still, it is important to think of the steps you take next, how their memory is honored and how you manage to find happiness again despite their absence.
Two little kids who lost their father a few months ago have become an example of resilience, and their actions have inspired millions all over the world.
Mylan, 5, and Mason, 8, are two young boys from Colorado. Their father was an army sergeant, and it was a trying time for the family, especially their mother, Kait Brazel, when he lost his battle to cancer.
However, their next actions were what caught the world's attention.
After they mourned their dad, the boys visited his grave for the first time in Arlington National Memorial, in Virginia, and rather than weep and be lost in pain they decided to do something better.
The boys laid down in front of the grave and decided to have a chat with their dad, talking about all their experiences, as they would have done had circunstances been different. .
They went further beyong expectations and did something out of the ordinary, which was heart-melting.
The youngest of them, Mylan, was feeling tired and decided to spend some quality rest time with his father and brought out a blanket. While recounting the event to People, their mother said:
They laid down and chatted with him and shared what was going on in their lives. Then Mylan said that he could feel him and that he wanted to take a nap with him.
It was heartbreaking, but beautiful nonetheless, to see the young boys doing so well, and even feeling at home in their dad's presence after his demise.
Mason decided to say a short prayer while Mylan went ahead to have his rest.
Their mother, Kate, disclosed that the boys had been a powerhouse for her since her husband's death. They've been so strong and have become her solace in these trying times.
They do everything very well, just like their father would have wanted, and honor him in every gesture and word.
When they were about to leave, Mylan ran back and decided to hug his dad by embracing his gravestone.
These kids remind us of the importance of being strong despite the losses and the pain, and this is undoubtedly a very beautiful way to honor a loved one's memory.
