A lot of things can reduce a woman's self-esteem, and this, in turn, affects their intimacy with their partner. This was Svetlana Savchenkova's plight.
Svetlana had always had hair on her face and chest, but her condition grew worse when she welcomed her son.
She realized her hair grew rapidly in those areas, and she began to feel embarrassed and self-conscious. It got so bad that she couldn't go out without wearing a face mask, and this started to affect her relationship with her husband.
She wouldn't allow him to kiss her for years because she believed she looked disgusting.
Unfortunately, her doctors were not helpful because they couldn't figure out what was causing her condition. This continued for many years, and Svetlana was unhappy.
Tired of her situation, her husband advised her to feature and appeal her condition on the Russian TV show titled 'I'm Ashamed of my Body.'
She explained her plight to the show, and they decided to help her out.
Svetlana was subjected to several therapists and tests arranged by the show. She was under the care of a multidisciplinary team who looked for ways to help her.
A year after coming on the show, Svetlana received laser therapy and was treated for polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS). She was also on a specific type of steroid that helped solve the hormonal problem.
The medical team advised her to lose more than 30lbs and live a healthy lifestyle, and Svetlana began to see changes.
While speaking about her recovery and transformation, Svetlana said:
"I walk outdoors with my chin up after a dozen years of hiding my face. I'm finally happy. and my son feels it - we hug each other finally, and he can touch my face."
It was explained by the medical team that Svetlana had Hirsutism, a common symptom of PCOS.
Svetlana now enjoys her relationship with her husband and son and is free from the shame that burdened her all these years.
Kudos to the team of specialists that helped Svetlana achieve happiness with her body.
