This viral picture of a man with Down Syndrome holding a baby has immortalized a pure manifestation of love! After the baby’s father, Kevin Throop, posted it on Reddit, it went viral in no time.

The man on the photo is his 20-year old brother Daniel and the picture was taken when Daniel met his niece for the first time.

My brother is a low functioning downsie. He used to love to hold babies but it's rare someone let's him now. My wife and I let him hold our baby today and here is his look when we gave her to him and then the way he held her without movement for 5 minutes. I almost cried. :) from r/aww

We often have misconceptions or prejudice about Down Syndrome. People with this condition just want to give and receive love, like everyone else.

Kevin hopes to change people’s perception of the diagnosis. He shared with CafeMom that those diagnosed with Down Syndrome are able to show the purest love, no strings attached.

When his brother was a kid, it was easy to show him signs of affection. Now, after Daniel grew a beard, his image changed a lot. However, he is still the same child inside, someone who needs to feel cherished and loved.

The young father added:

I don't know anyone that shows joy the way my brother does, and the world is a little less bright with a little less joy when we lose people with DS or parents decide not to have them.

Down Syndrome is the most common chromosomal disorder.

Older mothers are more likely to have a baby with this diagnosis. One in every 700 newborns has the condition and this number continues to grow. However, this man chose not to identify his brother with the disease. By posting this heart-warming picture, he shares the powerful message of acceptance and love!
