Parents Were Planning Their 10-Year-Old Daughter Funeral, But She Woke Up And Said Wise Words That Showed Her Will To Live
Life for this girl was never easy. At the age of 4, she started a fierce battle against cancer. Abby Furco was diagnosed with leukemia in 2011. This horrifying news sounded like a verdict for her parents; however, they pulled all their strength together to fight a battle that hasn't ended yet.
The doctors predicted the girl's chances of survival was no more than 20%. But she keeps defying the odds and refuses to give up. The first 6 years following the diagnosis were marked by never-ending hospital visits.
Abby had to undergo a bone marrow transplant, intense chemotherapy, and radiation. In addition, she was constantly on medication.
Her mother recalled:
There were moments we didn’t know if she’d pull through, she has so many infections that could have ended her life. All we could do was watch her fight and try to get better.
It is hard to imagine how devastating it was to live the thought of their daughter's imminent death. When Abby was 6, however, she miraculously recovered and started enjoying a normal childhood.
It was a happy year, filled with interesting events, socializing, playing and schooling – a time when the girl could live to the fullest.
Unfortunately, the deadly disease returned that very same year, with renewed force. Abby’s condition got critical. Another bone marrow transplant failed and started working against her body. The girl went completely immobile and woke up for just an hour a day.
10-year-old Abby was put into intensive care unit, but the medics notified her parents that she had very little time left.
Her kidney was failing. The whole family started to prepare for the funeral. And then, in the middle of their preparations, Abby woke up. She came back to life all of a sudden, which stunned everyone to the core.
It was the miracle no one could explain. Just when the doctors ceased the treatment, she grew stronger and, within a few weeks, Abby made an amazing recovery.
It wasn’t time for her to go. Her mom remembers the words she said after coming back from the dead: “I have so much living to do.” Hopefully, this brave girl will have many happy days in her future and will defeat the disease at long last.
