A Teenager Had To Change A Little Girl's Diaper In The Facility Packed With Kids Separated From Parents At US Border

As the Border Patrol keeps tearing apart children from their parents, who cross the US border illegally, the kids find a way to care for each other as they can.

Hundreds of kids are traumatized as they wait for an unknown future in large cages, metal doors and all, inside a adapted warehouse in South Texas.

Michelle Brane, the director of immigrant rights at the Women's Refugee Commission, visited the facility and told Associated Press that the conditions those kids are kept in are totally inappropriate.

There are no toys or books, and time outside is limited to just 2 hours a day. Needless to say, children of different ages, from toddlers to teenagers, are left to deal with it all on their own.

Brane talked to a 16-year-old girl who said she had helped a little girl who needed a change of diapers. She had to teach others how to do it so that they could at least take care of each other.

The 4-year-old was “so traumatized that she wasn’t talking,” she had been separated from her aunt and has experienced some considerable frustration.

Later, the little one got reunited with her aunt, who happened to be caged in the different part of the facility.

According to the immigration agents, people who crossed the border illegally will face criminal charges and be put in jail, away from their children.

While never-ending protests turn into riots against the American “zero tolerance” policy against immigrants, the Border Patrol allowed reporters to take a brief look inside the facilities where the illegals are kept.

The large facility turned out to be a dark and unfriendly place divided into separate wings, with cages for unaccompanied children, adults on their own, and parents with children.

Trump’s policy has been recently put into practice, and small kids being torn away from their mothers’ arms has provoked a major dispraise and judgment. Social activists call it “inhumane” and plead for a more tolerant and kind-hearted approach to the situation.
