Family Is More Than Blood: Army Man Built The Strongest Bond With His Stepdaughter, And The Mom Can't Be Happier

Date June 6, 2018

Family is a lot more than flesh and blood, it is also the special connections that illuminate our life. Many single mothers raise their kids with deep sorrow because their little ones can’t experience fatherly love and have in him a powerful role model to add to their own vision of life.

But this woman was lucky to build the family with the man she fell in love with. He became both a loving husband and the most caring daddy for her then 9-month-old baby girl.

Karissa Smith shared her story with LoveWhatMatters, posting a touching picture of the father-daughter connection.

This picture was taken at 2 AM when he snuck home from work to calm her down because she missed him; he had been gone for 14 days.

Apparently, this touching post made other people share their sweet stories, opening up about their family joys and sorrows.

Shane Smith is not a blood father to Josalen. However, he gives her as much love as he can, he comforts the baby when shecries, and treats her like a piece of jewelry.

When she needs him, he's there. We don't use the term "stepfather." He is her father.

Karissa and Shane came together and build a new family when they both were single parents. Army man Shane had a daughter, Alyssa, of his own. But he accepted little Josalen like she was his own blood. He decided to go even further and legally adopt the little one.

Karissa wrote: “They will soon be "officially" daddy and daughter.”

However, those two do not need any official papers to strengthen their bond! They have been daddy and daughter for a long time now.

For Josalen, Shane became her daddy when she was just 9 months old, now she is 3 and she is lucky to have a strong protector, who is a tough army man, but also a very tender and loving daddy.

Their wonderful family is bigger now, and the happy parents have welcome a daughter together – little baby Harleigh.
