More often than we would like to believe, kids are victims of abuse in daycare centers. It is appalling that the people you trust with your kids often become the ones that maltreat them.

4. Showing fear or anxiety towards a daycare employee;
5. Recurring night terrors.
These signs can help you detect if your child is being abused at the daycare and prompt you to take the necessary steps.
Chelsy Cooper’s story
Chelsy had taken her 2-year-old daughter, Chyna, to the daycare ChildTime, in Federal Way, and when her daughter got back home, she couldn’t believe her eyes.
Chunks of little Chyna's braids had been pulled out and there was a bruise on her lip. In a Facebook post shared by Chelsy, the angered mother posted a photo of the back of her daughter’s hair that showed three rows of braids that were yanked off. It read:
“When I say I’m mad. I can’t even describe it. I cried so hard and never felt so helpless in my life.”
Another photo showed her bruised lip. She explained that the daycare didn’t bother calling her to inform her that her kid had been injured.
When she got at the facility to demand an explanation, they wouldn’t even allow her to check the video footage, despite the fact that they have live coverage of all that happens in the daycare.
Like that wasn’t hurtful enough, the Federal Way Police didn’t respond to her calls and no officer visited her home afterward. Calling 911 was not helpful either, as they told her that they didn't respond to requests like that.
Now, Chelsy has retained legal counsel and is seeking justice for her daughter. Many internet users took offense at the daycare’s action and threatened them.
To this, the police responded, and an officer was seen on the school premises to ensure that everyone was safe. The director of communication for Childtime, Lydia Cisaruk, said in a statement:
“We take our responsibility as caregivers very seriously. When a concern is brought to our attention, we conduct a comprehensive review, and take any appropriate steps based on the findings.”
She explained that the daycare is currently cooperating with the Department of Children, Youth, and Families to get to the bottom of the issue.
Protect your kids from daycare abuse
You can prevent your kids from suffering a similar fate by:

1. Getting to know everyone that works with your kids at the daycare;
2. Asking thorough questions about the care provided to your child and the level of monitoring or supervision;
3. Teaching your kids about their bodies and what areas are private. Also, teach them about relationships and boundaries;

4. Teaching your child how to recognize who they should and should not trust.
No child deserves to be maltreated at the hands of the people in charge of taking care of them. However, the onus falls on the parents to do all they can to protect their children.
Protecting the smallest members of our society must be the top priority for every grown-up. Here is another powerful story to prove that.
