Getting a divorce is almost always an unpleasant experience. It often entails the sad experience of one-time lovers who have now turned their backs on one another, and families are broken as a result.

Apart from the emotional trauma, divorce brings about other consequences, as partner seemingly comes out the winner while the other pays price. This is often related to properties, custody of children, and several other things.

This has had its toll on different families in different ways countless times before. Over the years, the rate of divorce has gone up drammatically in the United States.
The famous 'Seattle spite house'
An example is the story of 'The Seattle Spite House’. It was built decades ago, in 1925, and lots of stories have surrounded its establishment.
The house was once believed to have been made by a landowner who was desperately trying to secure his property; however, its most famous story is about a couple whose divorce led to it being built. Legend has it that the wife did it to spite her husband.
The story began with a happy couple who once lived together.
They lived in a big house and were delighted until things turned around and they ended up getting a divorce. The husband got to keep most of the wealth, which included the big house in which they lived.
His wife, on the other hand, was left with almost nothing, but a small piece of garden serving as an extension of the big house.
The wife, who naturally held grudges against her husband, decided to get her revenge, and she did it in the most interesting way she could think of: She managed to convert the small piece of the garden into a home.
More surprising was the fact that it was a fantastic house, a tiny duples, which was beautifully constructed. The two-bedroom two-bathroom house featured all essential components for comfort.
Now, over nine decades later, the house remains a curiosity. Over the years, it has been a fantastic site for passersby and tourists who are fascinated by it.
A woman named Clay Wallace currently owns it and, although it has gone through several renovations over the years, it retains its original features and uniqueness.
Getting over a divorce
This fabled lady might have been able to get her 'healing', even though it was through unorthodox methods, but not everyone is quite fortunate.
It is therefore important to know the right steps to take if you find yourself in this condition.

Firstly, one has to understand that it's okay to grieve. Getting separated from someone you once gave your all to takes its toll, but the best thing is to grieve and move on. The more you hold on to it, the longer the pain will last.
Secondly, move on! One of the best ways to get over the pain is to do something else. Why shouldn't you be having the time of you life? Get some new hobbies and make some new friends.
Lastly, try and make the best out of your new found freedom. Losing someone dear can be quite painful, but it is how you handle yourself after that truly matters.
