A mother named Susy Vulich has sounded an important warning to parents after her son's experience. Her boy, Remi, who was then five years old, always complained of a sore arm. Susy took the boy to see a doctor so they could figure out what the problem was.
After some tests were done, Susy was shocked when the diagnosis revealed that her boy had bone cancer, called Osteosarcoma. According to Cancer org, this type of cancer starts in the bone cells. The tumors are mostly found in the arms, legs or pelvis.
The devastating diagnosis was the beginning of a long and tough journey toward health for the young boy. While speaking to Yahoo Australia, Susy said:
Within an hour or so your life is turned upside down.
Remi started getting chemotherapy treatments and even had a major surgery to treat the cancer. The operation, which took eight hours, required the removal of the boy's humerus, where the tumor was located. This was replaced with his left fibula, the mom said.
He eventually went into remission. However, a few months later, he relapsed and was diagnosed with lung metastasis. Again, he had another major surgery and, within a few days, he was back to school. Sadly, about a month and a half later, two masses were found on his lung.
It’s terrible…Something just as simple as a sore arm can turn into this.
Despite all the pain and heartache, Susy is determined to cherish every moment she has with her boy.
A GoFundMe page was set up for Remi to make one of his dearest wishes come true. He wanted to go to Paris and climb the Eiffel Tower. And he needs the donations from kind strangers to make this happen.
Since the story of Remi's condition started making the rounds, many people have taken to social media to express their support and goodwill for this little fighter.
We hope this handsome young man continues to get better.
