"They Are Magic!" Same-Sex Couple Who Got Pregnant At The Same Time Welcomed Their Baby Girls Just 2 Days Apart
Anna McInarnay and her wife, Renee, had two beautiful reasons to celebrate when they gave birth to a baby girl within days of each other.
The couple underwent intrauterine insemination (IUI) and the got pregnant at the same time. Months later, on October 13, Renee gave birth to their first child, Emma Reese McInarnay. On October 15, Anna gave birth to their second child, who they named Avonlea Grace McInarnay.
On how they are now coping as new moms, Anna described the whole thing as "overwhelming", especially when it came to getting the babies on a schedule. But things have been pretty fantastic.
We’ve had a really sweet time together. Babies are magic.
Renee and Anna, who met when they were teenagers, got married in 2017. They then decided it was time to start a family so they visited a fertility facility to be inseminated. At the time, Renee was not so optimistic that the procedure would work because she had been diagnosed with polycystic ovary syndrome. Nevertheless, both women decided to remain hopeful.
Days later, the doctors called to give the couple some incredible news.
They said, ‘Anna you’re pregnant and so is Renee.’ I’ll just never forget it. We screamed and jumped up and down and we were hooting and hollering. We just hugged each other and cried.
Now, the happy parents are simply enjoying getting to know Avonlea and Emma. Anna could not help but gush about their differences in personalities. She described Avonlea as being the more outgoing one and a "little people person", while Emma is calmer and loves being held and snuggled.
They’re very sweet and funny together. They’re like two little old ladies.
Renee and Anna's story sure is beautiful and inspiring, and it serves as a reminder that sometimes you have to take a leap regardless of the odds. You just may be pleasantly surprised!
