Though Down syndrome can't be prevented, it can be detected before a child is born.

Edyta Mordel, 33, reportedly insisted on tests being carried out during her pregnancy but was only told her newborn son had the condition after birth. As a result, the mother is suing the National Health Service for over £200,000 for ‘wrongful birth’ and told the High Court in London that she would have had an abortion if she knew about his condition.
Mordel, from Reading, Berkshire, says she needs financial help for caring for her son as his disorder impacted her ability to work.
Interestingly, NHS lawyers claim the mum-to-be was offered a Down's Syndrome test during her pregnancy but chose to decline it after learning that the procedure carries with it a slight risk of miscarriage.
The woman, however, said:
"I spoke with the midwife about Down’s syndrome screening. I knew from the start that I would agree on the Down’s syndrome screening and I would not make any other decision."
Although the family is still trying to find those responsible for the situation, the child has to live with its severe disorder. Multiple people agreed that the woman is selfish and ungrateful for having a child. They commented:
" She doesn't deserve to have such a special gift from God that baby deserves to be in a loving home with caring and loving parents "
Another user added:
"So much for unconditional love. I feel sorry for the kid having a mother like that! "
"This should be enough to have the baby taken from her care at birth..
How could she possibly love her child unconditionally and keep them safe if she is doing this "
It seems that some people lack an understanding that children are blessing in our lives and we should love and accept them unconditionally.
