A cinnamon bun is a delicacy that has been enjoyed for a long time, but how did it come to be in existence?
Cinnamon bun, or Kanelbullar, as it is called in Swedish, is thought to have originated in Sweden over 2000 years ago.
However, it was the Romans who were responsible for pushing the delicious snack into the limelight as they used it to accent incense and wine.
Today, the cinnamon bun is one of the most wanted snacks in every American bakery shop, and October 4 is celebrated as International Cinnamon Roll Day.
Cinnamon Bun recipe made easy
Every once in a while, you need a delicacy such as a cinnamon bun, or better still, a cinnamon toast roll, on your breakfast plate.
And the good news is that these tasty treats are not difficult to make.
All you need are some soft white slices of bread, some butter and a helping of cinnamon sugar. Oh, and a little faith in the cooking process.
The first step is to cut off the crusts off the bread and roll it flat by employing a rolling pin.
Then, you want to brush both sides with butter and then sprinkle in some cinnamon sugar, after which you can roll them into any shape you desire.
Next, place them in a mini muffin tin or a baking sheet, depending on how you folded them, and sprinkle more cinnamon sugar. After that, all you have to do is bake them away.
You will need to bake them for about 15 to 20 minutes at 375°C. When the cinnamon toast rolls are starting to turn golden brown and crispy, that's your cue.
The cinnamon toast rolls are now ready to be savoured by your taste buds.
However, some people might decide to do a little something extra and add icing sugar to their toast rolls.
Adding a little icing delight to your cinnamon toast
We would advise going with the cream cheese frosting, which is a perfect blend of cream cheese, butter, powdered sugar, and flavouring.
However, make sure that the cream cheese and butter are softened at room temperature, as this gives the frosting a better creamy texture.
For a standard pan of 12 rolls, you need 6 ounces of softened cream cheese, 1/3 ounce of softened butter, 2 cups of powdered sugar and 1/2 tablespoon of the desired flavouring.
Now all you need to do is combine the cream cheese and butter in large bowl and mix them using a hand mixer.
Next, you add your flavouring and the powdered sugar, and then beat until the mixture is well combined.
And now, you can spread your frosting on your cooled down cinnamon toast rolls and enjoy! Share these with friends who love cinnamon buns as you do!
