Shows like 'America's Got Talent' have always shown how anyone can go from obscurity to fame thanks to their pure and amazing talents. This show gives people hope and reminds those who watch it that it's okay to dream. So it's no surprise that certain episodes might leave people in emotional tears.
A community-based group led by Choir Director Anthony White left the AGT judges in awe, especially actor Terry Crews. Dozens of inner-city schoolchildren made up the choir, which White had set up as a way to give children a safe space to express themselves through music.
The choir gave a powerful rendition of Macklemore & Ryan Lewis' Can't Hold Us, and this unique performance featured a perfect blend of regular choir notes, rap, and fun choreography.
Their incredible show earned them a standing ovation as the room trembled with applause. Crews was fighting to hold back tears as he opened up about how he saw himself when he looked at those children.
Every man and woman on this stage represents me and where I came from. I remember sitting at my window in Flint, Michigan, dreaming about wanting to make it and wanting to be here – and they are here.
He also appreciated the choir director and others like him who help little kids reach great heights.
All it takes is one person to believe in a young man or woman for them to reach their dreams, and you are that man, sir!
He punctuated the glowing comments by hitting the golden buzzer and the children were very excited as confetti rained down the stage.
Julianne Hough praised the group for coming together and turning a regular choir performance into something more modern and fresh.
Howie Mandel, Gabrielle Union, and Simon Cowell all gave great reviews as well. Cowell assured the group that if they continue to keep their performances fresh, unique and unexpected, they could actually win the contest.
It was undoubtedly a moment of joy for everyone present and you can tell that being praised by so many people meant the world to the kids.
