A Hero Among The Crowd: Man Saved Woman From Assault On Train When Everyone Looked Away

When you see something that’s not right, speak out. That’s the famous saying, but most people still have a hard time abiding by it.
It's easier to keep walking or to turn the other way than to get involved. It is not right, though.
This one man, whose name is Victor Conte, has proved to himself and the rest of the world that standing up for what is right is the only way to go.
Victor was just another passenger on a train when the choice of helping someone or looking away needed to be made. He chose to to stand for what is right.
Sam Saia, a Brooklyn resident, was on her way to work and took her regular New York subway train.
While on the train, she was sharing a seat with a man. She complained to him, asking him to stop ‘manspreading’, that is, seating with his legs side open and taking up more than his fair share of seat space. However, his man immediately took offense and started hurling insults at her.
He went as far as punching Sam on the lip in front of everybody, seemingly unaffraid of the consequences considering that the was a security camera on the train
Victor, who was on the side of the train, saw this and immediately got up. He protected Sam and pushed the man away, telling him to get off the train as one should never hit a lady.
The man left the train and Sam was safe again.
Victor was even angrier that no one did anything about it. The two men sitting across from Sam turned their heads as the man assaulted her.
The security footage was released on November 17, 2018. People all over the internet have gone ahead to name Victor a hero and a good samaritan. He refused the appelation, saying he only did the right thing.
He also admonished people to always stand up for what is right, and not to be afraid of speaking out if something is wrong.
Hopefully, we can learn from Victor Conte and do what is right when the decision is ours to make.
